UTO KULM and the Frys

Next year it will be 40 years since 24 year old Giusep Fry started running our hotel & restaurant with his wife. When its future was threatened in 1999 by the merger of the Bankverein and the Bankgesellschaft to form UBS, he decided to buy the business and surrounding land. With great passion and innovative thinking, he transformed the traditional mountain inn into the new star of the Swiss hotel industry.
 
In May 2022, Giusep Fry decided to hand over the management of UTO KULM to his son, Fabian Fry, who is now following in his father’s footsteps. Giusep Fry passed away unexpectedly on 22 November 2023.
 
At UTO KULM, a team of about 100 people is putting its heart and soul into looking after the well-being of its guests.
